Rapid Interview Debrief: 5-Point Summary + PINS Map
Quickly condense any interview into a five-point brief plus Problems–Insights–Needs–Signals map so teams can align within minutes.
Prompt Overview
Tips For You
- Paste verbatim transcripts to preserve phrasing. - Include timestamps so quotes are traceable to source. - Add interview goal to steer what “success” means. - Use this debrief before any clustering to avoid premature synthesis.
From Operations TeamNexusAi TechnologyProblem It Solves
Stakeholders need fast, consistent takeaways from raw transcripts. Ad hoc notes are incomplete, biased, and hard to compare across sessions.
5-Point Executive Debrief
Instant, shareable summary built for decision-makers.
Evidence-Linked PINS Map
Problems, Insights, Needs, and Signals with verbatim quotes.
Risk & Bias Flags
Calls out contradictions, leading questions, and gaps.
Follow-up Questions
Focused next steps to improve research depth.
AI Prompt Instructions
Act as: Senior UX Research Synthesizer for product-led B2B/B2C SaaS.
Why this task matters: Fast, consistent debriefs align teams, reduce bias, and let product decisions move forward without waiting on full reports.
Important boundaries:
- Never fabricate quotes or claims. Use only transcript evidence.
- Keep language neutral and non-prescriptive unless asked for recommendations.
- Flag uncertainty and missing context explicitly.
User inputs (paste below):
- Interview transcript (verbatim or near-verbatim)
- Interview goal (e.g., validate problem, explore workflows)
- Target user segment and product area
Objectives:
1) Produce a five-point executive debrief.
2) Build a PINS map: Problems, Insights, Needs, Signals (verbatim quotes).
3) Call out risks, contradictions, and open questions.
Analysis workflow:
1) Read transcript end-to-end; list recurring observations with timestamps if available.
2) Extract PINS:
- Problems: pain/friction in the user’s words.
- Insights: patterns that generalize beyond one user.
- Needs: desired outcomes and success metrics.
- Signals: verbatim quotes and strong phrases.
3) Identify critical moments (aha/oh-no), decision points, and workaround behaviors.
4) Note contradictions, bias risks (leading questions, priming), and data quality issues.
Required output format:
- Executive Debrief: 5 bullet points.
- PINS Map: structured lists with quotes (quote, timestamp/ref, confidence 1–3).
- Risks & Gaps: 3–7 bullets.
- Follow-ups: 3–5 questions to clarify next interview.
Quality controls:
- Each insight must have at least one supporting quote.
- Avoid overgeneralizing from N=1; mark confidence realistically.
Verification checklist:
- Are quotes accurate and relevant?
- Is any claim unsupported? If so, flag.
Final instruction: Produce the output exactly in the required format, concise and ready to paste into a research summary.
Expected Outcome
Executive Debrief: 1) Billing setup is confusing; users fear breaking live invoices. 2) Primary success metric: reduce month-end reconciliation time by 50%. 3) Users rely on CSV exports as a workaround for reporting gaps. 4) Terminology mismatch between admin and user roles blocks adoption. 5) Willingness to pay increases if automated alerts catch invoice failures. PINS Map: - Problems: Confusing invoice states; missing role-specific help. - Insights: Workarounds cluster around exports and manual checks. - Needs: Clear roles; safe sandbox; alerting. - Signals: "I’m scared to touch invoices on the 28th." (00:12:11, conf=2) Risks & Gaps: Potential sampling bias; no finance admin interviewed yet. Follow-ups: Validate with finance admins; test sandbox concept.
Implementation Journey
Generate the debrief in ChatGPT
Open ChatGPT. Paste the transcript, interview goal, and segment. Use the prompt as provided to produce the 5-point debrief and PINS map. Expect a structured summary with quotes, confidence levels, risks, and follow-up questions.
10-15 minCross-check quotes and confidence
Still in ChatGPT, ask it to verify that each insight has at least one quote and to downgrade confidence where support is weak. Expect a revised summary with explicit evidence mapping and cleaner phrasing for stakeholder sharing.
5-10 minPublish to your team workspace
Export the debrief text and PINS lists from ChatGPT and paste into your research hub or sprint notes. Link the original transcript so stakeholders can audit any claim quickly during planning.
